You know equality is inevitable when “certain” Christian groups are turning to falsely representing the LGBT community.
One just has to look at the past, non-Caucasians were of the devil, females had no rights, and single mothers had their children taken off them. The list of discrimination against people in the “name” of Christ goes on. As many of you know, last weekend was the Equal Love rally for Marriage Equality, and there was a bit of confrontation with a local Christian group that turned up at the rally to invoke their right of freedom of speech. Where in the law does it say it is okay to blast bagpipes to interrupt a crowd is beyond me. So anyways this so called Christian group is actually part of Operation 513. Now don’t get me wrong I have no problem with Christians, I do have a history with the church, but what I do have a problem with, is hiding behind Christ to promote bigotry, prejudice and discrimination.
Perhaps turning up to an LGBT rally with a sign that says “No parking in the rear”, isn’t the most appropriate way to get the message of Christ’s love across, perhaps turning up just as the guests begin to speak playing bagpipes and shouting condemnation at what was a peaceful crowd, is also not the best way to get the message of Christ’s love across either. I suppose waving cameras in front of people’s faces when they asked not to be filmed, and shoving people as young as 16 is also another productive way to show Christ’s love. Needless to say these guys weren’t welcome and what you can see from the numerous unedited videos of what happened, these soldiers of Christ were anything but holy.
Yes, people are welcome to freedom of speech, but what if the LGBT community started walking into their churches? Oh but right, freedom of speech is only allowed if you’re doing it in the name of Christ right? The fact of the matter is this small little Christian group has uploaded a video (below) that is also heavily edited portraying the LGBT community as violent and disrespectful. Of course the video lacks any misdeeds committed by the Christian group, God forbid people judge them.
So where am I going with this post? Well it’s like this, yes the way some of us behaved that day may not have been as proactive for the cause as we hoped, because now this little group has been able to paint us in a negative light, but this just shows more then ever, people like Operation 513 will stop at nothing to falsely represent the LGBT community and we must be weary of that. I could go on as Christians how wrong they are etc but with all honesty God himself will judge them accordingly, and the fact of the matter is he isn’t a big fan of having his name wrongfully used.
What I would also like to add is the video uploaded actually goes against our rights. Public photography is allowed but in a way that does not falsely portray the people captured on film. These guys have illegally created false propaganda, where on the day people asked not to be filmed and they insisted on doing it anyway. So I encourage each one of you that is featured in the biased film to report it to youtube as the film indeed infringes on your rights and privacy. Also remember, because they’re Christians they are not exempt of the law.
As I proudly said that day and will continue to say it right now “Love! Not Hate!”

What are your thoughts?
As usual religion is used as a springboard for injustice and hate. People of faith are not the problem. The problem is religion (there is a major difference between faith and religion) and religious groups that put their own prejudices and morals ahead of their faith and therefore do not practice what their bible truly says. There is no difference between these people and the religious fanatics that think that blowing people up is justified. If they led by example instead of attacking people and groups that didn’t fit with their way of thinking they would probably convert more people. And my observation of their video is that as per usual their people where older men who are probably insecure in their own sexuality and therefor have to be seen to condemn anything to do with homosexuality. I know that generalisation is probably used a lot but the only other reason I can think of for getting so worked up about something that doesn’t involve them is that they are just hateful people with nothing better to do. But on the bright side as the title of this post says it won’t be long now and equality will happen.
