Tune For Today: Michelle Xen – ‘L.O.V.E.’

My good friend Lucille Korponay recently did the makeup for Michelle Xen’s new music video for her track ‘L.O.V.E.’ and I simply can’t get enough of the track, not to mention the music video is all kinds of colourful goodness. I seriously reckon Michelle Xen is a name to keep an eye out for. Check out the music video below.

“I was tidying the DIY studio in my bedroom, and this line flew into my head… “and she spells L.O.V.E. with her eyes…”. I wrote the song really quickly and recorded it but it wasn’t quite alive yet. So I gave it to Quan [Regurgitator], who promised to take it to the park for a mint ice cream and he brought it back to me alive and kicking… I know a girl who is really well-intentioned, but, a disaster. And she spells L.O.V.E with her eyes. This song is for her.”

Michelle Xen is an electronic music producer, vocalist and visual artist. Her sound is constructed mostly in her bedroom, from synthlines from the 80s, fat drums, dirty bass and a big heart. Experiments, intuitions, dancefloor risks and visual indulgence are all welcome in her world which echos sounds of Goldfrapp, Roisin Murphy, & E.B.T.G.

Michelle has recently returned from writing and recording in New York and Berlin, working on the upcoming SYNAESTHESIAC release due out October 2012
