The trailer for River Phoenix’s final Film ‘Dark Blood’ has been released!
Last October it was announced that the last film that River Phoenix completed before his death in 1993 was in the process of being released and today we finally get to see the first trailer for the film, Dark Blood. While there has been no official theatrical release announced just yet, Dark Blood will be making its grand debut at a Dutch film festival in a few months. Check out the trailer below.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who finds it somewhat eerie to see new film footage of the late actor, especially for a film that is lined dark content. The trailer has definitely sparked my curiosity. Dark Blood was scheduled for release in 1994 but Phoenix died just 11 days before the end of production in late 1993. The film has pretty much remained unfinished all these years, until director George Sluizer decided to finish the film and, apparently, release it. Here is an interview with Sluizer about his decision why to finish and release the film:
I’m sure some people may have issues with the release of this film, but I don’t fault the director’s decision in wanting to finish the film or release it for that matter, especially if it is his own way of paying tribute to the late actor.
What do you guys think?
