‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ just another unnecessary adaptation.
Where would Hollywood be without its so-called “brilliant re-imaginings” of classic stories? Without answering that, simply look at how successful Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was. Quite dismal if you asked me.
Director Tommy Wirkola’s gives us a new take on the classic children’s fairy tale Hansel and Gretel, with his action-comedy-horror film, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. The film stars Jeremy Renner as Hansel, and Gemma Arterton as Gretel. The film follows the siblings 15 years after that awkward incident with that witch who lived in a house made of candy, and who have now become powerful witch hunters. The two are tasked with battling and evil sorceress in the form of Famke Janssen. I’d see it just to see Famke, but that’s just me.

Just another unnecessary adaptation don’t you think?
*sigh*
