I haven’t watched Glee for quite sometime, I really should catch up on it. Well anyways, during the most recent episode  Amber Riley performed I Will Always Love You (talk about timing).  Although the song is originally by Dolly Parton, it was the late Whitney Houston who turned it into a worldwide hit, that for many is often remembered as her greatest song.

Amber Riley‘s performance of the song on Glee was pitch perfect in very single way and can really only be described as an unintended truly beautiful tribute to the late singer. Watch it below.

Now don’t get me wrong I love a good underwear ad, but I find them usually overly flamboyant exploding with dance music and a lot of booty-shak’n, so needless to say when I came across this new ad for C-IN2 with models Anthony Gallo and Chris Whelan, I was pleasantly surprised. While featuring the equal amount of body and bulge we’ve grown used to from underwear ads, this has a slight darker tone to it and in the process doesn’t make it any less sexy than the ads we’ve grown accustomed to. It is truly a sad day for many as they woke up this morning to hear the news that Whitney Houston has died. A representative for the Associated Press confirmed the news this morning that the singer had died at the Beverley Hilton Hotel.

This news comes on the day of music’s biggest event, the Grammy Awards. A showcase of artists where at the peak of her career she reigned, without a doubt her death will weigh heavy on many who attend the awards. A representative for the Associated Press confirmed the news this morning that the singer had died at the Beverley Hilton Hotel. While publicist Kristen Foster has said that the cause of death is not yet known it has been reported by  TMZ that a police crime lab vehicle was seen outside the hotel.

The legendary singer won two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards throughout her career. In addition, her album “Whitney” was the first female album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts. She has sold 200 million albums world wide. Her success carried her beyond music to the film industry starring in its such as The Bodyguard and Waiting to Exhale.

To many she had the perfect voice, a beautiful singer who had sex appeal however was never overtly sexual who maintained the perfect poise, influencing a generation of younger singers such as Mariah Carey and Christian Aguilera. But by the end of her tale like so many artists before, the singer became a cautionary tale of the toll of drug use and domestic violence. Her album sales began to plummet and hits stopped coming. Her image shattered by a wild demeanour and odd public appearances. Confessing to abusing cocaine, marijuana and other forms of medication, her once pristine voice damaged failed to hit the high notes as she had during her prime.

Houston staged what seemed to be a successful comeback with the 2009 album I Look To You. The album debuted on the top of the charts, and eventually went platinum. However the world tour confirmed suspicions that she had lost her treasured gift failing to hit the high notes that made her famous leaving many fans unimpressed. Cancelled concerts dates began to raises suspicion that she was once more abusing drugs, she however denied such claims, blaming it on illness. Just a few days ago she was spotted out in town looking worse for wear once more fuelling rumours.

While what actually happened to the singer that saw her leave this earth is yet to be confirmed, there is no denying that her death brings a loss to many. Yes, haters will hate and lovers will love. No one is perfect and Whitney knew that, once saying in an interview with Diane Sawyer in 2002 “The biggest devil is me. I’m either my best friend or my worst enemy,” Words we should all take notice of.

RIP Whitney Houston and may your music forever live on.

I always get nervous about sequels being made to movies, especiallywhen the original came out twenty years ago. When I heard there was talk of a Beetlejuice 2, needless to say I was nervous. I really wouldn’t want a sequel without Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice. It just wouldn’t be right. Well peeps I have some good news!

As some of you already know Tim Burton is interested in directing a sequel to the 80′s smash hit and asked Dark Shadows writer  Seth Grahame-Smith, to start work on a script. Apparently the writer has even spoken to Michael Keaton about it and is interested in reprising his Beetlejuice role. OMG!

Here’s what Seth Grahame-Smith had to say on the matter:

“It’s a reality in the sense that I met with Michael Keaton last week.  We talked for a couple of hours and talked about big picture stuff. It’s a priority for Warner Bros. It’s a priority for Tim.  He’s been wanting to do it for 20 years and he’ll talk to anybody about it who will listen. I really told him, I have a huge reverence for Tim and a huge reverence for that film in general.  I don’t think we should do it if we shit on the legacy. He agrees. So, right now, it remains to be seen, I have a couple of story ideas, but we’re very early out.”

Needless to say this news excites me. The question I can’t help but wonder is, would they get Winona Ryder to return. Soooooooooo love that girl! Stuff it! Why stop there, I’d love to see the writers incorporate all the original cast. That would just be epic!

Ever since it was announced that RuPaul was going to appear at Big Gay Day, speculation of who else would be making an appearance at Queensland’s biggest gay party has been the topic of conversation. While the organisers have been extremely tight-lipped regarding the line-up, Friday, The Wickham announced 90’s classic Frente! [...]]]> It’s time for a nostalgic flashback!!!

Ever since it was announced that RuPaul was going to appear at Big Gay Day, speculation of who else would be making an appearance at Queensland’s biggest gay party has been the topic of conversation. While the organisers have been extremely tight-lipped regarding the line-up, Friday, The Wickham announced 90’s classic Frente! would also be headlining the day.

It was in 1992 that Frente! fronted by Angie Hart took the Australian charts by storm with their singles Ordinary Angels and without a doubt their most popular hit and a personal favourite of mine, Accidently Kelly Street.

While not much has been heard from them for a number of years, this announcement has me soooooo excited! I used to listen to Accidently Kelly Street over and over. Actually I still do, it’s one of my happy songs!

At the moment the official headlining acts for Big Gay Day are as follows

and Mega Drag

Now the only question left to ask is, Who else will be performing at Big Gay Day?
