Ezra Miller “I’m queer…”

While Ezra Miller’s sexuality may not have been that much of a secret, in an interview with OUT magazine, he ends all speculation by identifying as “queer.”

For those that don’t recognize the handsome young man, he played opposite Tilda Swinton in We Need To Talk About Kevin. Now he is set to grace the big screen starring with Logan Lerman and Emma Watson in Stephen Chbosky’s  The Perks of Being A Wallflower. In the movie adapted from the critically acclaimed novel, Ezra plays Patrick, a confident gay high school senior who is having a secret relationship with the school’s star quarterback, and in some ways this role might be a case of art imitating life.

During the interview, the 19-year-old reveals why he could relate to Patrick’s struggles in the film, and in the process casually identifying himself as queer. Check out what he had to say below.

“I’m queer. I have a lot of really wonderful friends who are of very different sexes and genders. I am very much in love with no one in particular. I’ve been trying to figure out relationships, you know? I don’t know if it’s responsible for kids of my age to be so aggressively pursuing monogamous binds, because I don’t think we’re ready for them. The romanticism within our culture dictates that that’s what you’re supposed to be looking for. Then [when] we find what we think is love — even if it is love — we do not yet have the tools. I do feel that it’s possible to be at this age unintentionally hurtful, just by being irresponsible — which is fine. I’m super down with being irresponsible. I’m just trying to make sure my lack of responsibility no longer hurts people. That’s where I’m at in the boyfriend/girlfriend/zefriend type of question.”

I cannot begin to say how wise he is for his age. Not only does he have the confidence in knowing who he is; but the insight and understanding that he shows through gender referencing, should be completely commended. The guy is an inspiration!!!
