Dr. Mark Craddock banned for prescribing chemical-castration medication as a gay ‘cure’

Sorry if I offend certain people here, but I’m just gonna go ahead and say it, just because you claim to be religious it does not make you a fuck’n health expert! This news completely sickens me.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Dr. Mark Craddock,  who also happens to be a member of the Exclusive Brethren Christian Fellowship, prescribed the drug Cyprosta, used to treat prostate cancer by blocking the production of testosterone, to an 18-year-old member of his sect, who was sent to him struggling with homosexuality.

Now, 24, the young man sent a letter to the New South Wales Health Care Complaints Commission, claiming that after he came out, a church leader had  recommended that he see Dr Craddock. The young man goes onto explain that the doctor prescribed him the medication after a 10-minute visit, never telling him about the medication’s  libidinal side effects and failing to also tell him that it was also used to control sex offenders.

In a court hearing, Craddock admitted he did not obtain a medical history, conduct a physical exam, arrange for any follow-up or even suggest the boy see a therapist. After admitting he should not have prescribed the drug,  he was found guilty of “unsatisfactory processional conduct” and had restrictions placed on his medical registration banning him for practicing medicine

You gotta be kidding me??? This bastard should be facing criminal charges and forced to eat the very medication he was prescribing

So we have Jim Wallace comparing homosexuality with smoking cigarette smoking, previously The Pope preaching that condoms were bad, and now this monster prescribing completely inappropriate medication to young people struggling with their own sexuality. oh and lets not forget the so called reparative therapy that has been proven to not actually work. Seriously people WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!

These people need to be held accountable and get more just just slaps on the wrists. These people are messing with the health and well-being  of real living people. Ugh it makes me so angry.

Do you believe Dr. Mark Craddock should have gotten a harsher punishment?

If you read other accounts of the story, you will find that members in the church suggested that the young man see Dr. Craddock for “treatment of his homosexuality”. This strongly suggests a pattern where others have been “treated” by the same doctor is a similar way. While it is true that the doctor should be more accountable than just losing his license to practice (he is 75 years old BTW, so forcing him to retire is not a real punishment), the courts should go after the church. A full investigation should be started, and if it is found that this same “treatment” has been performed on other members, the church should be accountable. The only way you are going to stop these crackpot radical religions is if enough of their members go to jail, and their funding is lost in lawsuits and fines. A few more highly publicized cases might make other think before they use their religious dogma to cause real damage to others.
